Students moving back on UT campus for fall semester


(WBIR-Knoxville) University of Tennessee students have begum moving back to campus for the fall semester.

The campus opened Monday for first year students involved in the Ignite serves program and was opened to Haslam Scholar students.

Move in will continue throughout the week at these times:

Wednesday August 12

-Upper-division residents (sophomores and above) may check-in beginning at 8am. Continues daily.

Eastbound lane on Cumberland Avenue set to reopen Saturday


(WBIR - KNOXVILLE) An eastbound lane on Cumberland Avenue is set to reopen between Alcoa Highway and 22nd Street on Saturday.

The reopening is a part of the $17 million reconstruction of Cumberland Avenue.

"This represents a big step forward for all Cumberland Avenue stakeholders," said Knoxville project manager Anne Wallace said.

Wallace said reopening traffic in both directions prior to the start of fall classes at the University of Tennessee is on schedule, and a "major milestone."

City to change one-way streets off Cumberland Avenue


(WBIR) The Cumberland Avenue corridor will soon include fewer one-way streets.

City officials announced Friday it's moving forward with plans to permanently convert four one-way streets off the eastern end of Cumberland Avenue into two-way roads.

The list includes 18th, 19th, Mountcastle and 21st streets.
