Dogwood Arts Festival parade cancelled for next year

There will be something missing from next year's Dogwood Arts Festival.

Because of a shifting focus for the festival and dwindling support, officials say they will no longer be hosting the annual parade down Gay Street.

If you've been anxiously awaiting your chance to get a taste of Tupelo Honey, the wait is almost over.

Officials say the Tupelo Honey Cafe on Market Square will open on October 15 at 11 am.

Knoxville is going to have to wait a little longer to enjoy the new Tupelo Honey Cafe.

The restaurant announced Tuesday that their opening will be delayed, though no new opening day has been set.

Officials attribute the change to construction delays.

Local restaurants,  lofts, art galleries, even a movie theater- Gay Street in downtown Knoxville offers a vibrant mix of business and culture.

Now, the American Planning Association has named Gay Street one of the 10 Great Streets for 2012.

The non-profit highlighted the preservation efforts, and Gay Street's impact on Knoxville's economy and arts scene.

Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero says this is a fabulous honor.
The city will celebrate next month at a special presentation in Krutch Park -- before the Celebration of Lights ceremony.
