Downtown Knoxville businesses say they noticed a difference on New Year's Eve after the city scaled back its First Night celebrations.

Businesses say while they still had high numbers, there were fewer people on Market Square.

We haven't even made it to Thanksgiving yet, but people are already getting in the Christmas spirit. Tuesday was the preview party for this year's Fantasy of Trees.

Fantasy of Trees is a huge fundraiser for East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

Lawson McGhee Library holds seminar teaching about e-readers

With Black Friday only a few days away, the Knox County Library wants you to be a little more educated about e-readers.

On Monday, the library hosted a Tech Topic talking about differences between various e-readers. The seminar was designed to help people research the readers before shelling out a ton of cash for one. They also had a few e-readers on hand so that people could actually use them and see how they functioned.

The library said it's also important to look into each store's return policy.

To help families make ends meet during the holidays, dozens of Knoxville Area Rescue Ministries volunteers distributed Thanksgiving dinners under the overpass on Broadway next to KARM this afternoon.

Burt Rosen, KARM CEO and president, said this small gesture goes a long way in these tough economic times.

Valarium closure creates vacancy in Knox entertainment

Valarium closure creates vacancy in Knox entertainment

An East Tennessee entertainment venue will soon close its doors, but not before the last few scheduled shows wrap.

The Valarium and Ciderhouse, near downtown Knoxville, will shut down November 25th. On the club's Facebook page, managers say they have no choice due to rule changes by the state regarding food service and the number of days they must remain open each week.

The club has hosted many concerts and events during the last several years, including many well known bands.
