Rhythm & Blooms, other events bring downtown road closures

(WBIR - Downtown Knoxville) - Thanks to great weather and a busy calendar, you can look forward to a lively weekend in downtown Knoxville. Headlining events is the annual Rhythm N Blooms Music festival.

Dozens of groups will be performing at several venues along Jackson Avenue. This

year's lineup

includes The Decemberists, Drive By Truckers, and The Dirty Guv'nahs.

The festival will be creating some weekend road closures. Jackson Avenue between Morgan and Humes streets and between the Jackson Avenue parking lot in the Old City and Broadway will be closed. Patton Street between Willow and Jackson Avenues will also be shut down for the three-day music festival.

The Rhythm and Blooms road closings start at 4 p.m. Friday and end at 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Some other weekend events will also close several downtown streets.

Union Avenue between Walnut and Gay Street, and Market Street between Union and Clinch Avenue will be closed Saturday for the Dogwood Arts Festival Chalk Walk.

There will also be temporary rolling road closures Saturday morning because of the Color Me Rad 5K. Impacted streets include: Howard Baker Jr. Avenue to Hill Avenue, Hill to Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Martin Luther King Jr. to Bertrand Street, Bertrand to McCalla Avenue, McCalla to Jackson Avenue, Jackson to Central Street, Central to the ramp from Hall of Fame Drive to Neyland Drive, and back up the ramp to the Civic Coliseum.
