UT moves up in U.S. News & World Report's annual 'best colleges' rankings

(WBIR – KNOXVILLE) The University of Tennessee moved up on U.S. News & World Report’s annual “Best Colleges” rankings.

In the 2016 college rankings released Wednesday, UT ranked 103rd overall among national universities, and 47th among public universities. UT moved up three spots in each list compared to last year.

Other area schools profiled in the best college rankings include Carson-Newman University and Maryville College.

Carson-Newman ranked No. 16 among regional colleges in the South.

Maryville College received a numeral ranking in the report, but the U.S. News & World Report did not publish it.

This year the publication provided rankings and data on nearly 1,800 schools.
