Dooley answers fans' questions as scrutiny continues

Despite the fact embattled UT Head Football Coach Derek Dooley continues to deal with fans calling for his job, he still has his supporters here in East Tennessee.

Dooley answered questions about his team's performance Wednesday while taking calls on the radio show "Vol Calls" at Calhoun's on the River.

"I recognize the same frustrations that people are having with the ultimate results, but I'm also very proud of what this program looks like relative to what it looked like when I stopped here three years ago," Dooley said.

Visitors to the Old City will find an interesting new addition to the streetscape on Central Street: Knoxville's first "bike corral," which converts an on-street parking space into parking for bicycles.

Bike corrals are used in areas that have narrow sidewalks where racks can't fit, or when there is a high demand for bike parking.

Six bike racks have been installed in a parking spot in front of Old City Java.

At his Monday press conference, Tennessee head football coach Dooley said Athletic Director Dave Hart told him no decision has been made yet on whether the coach will be fired or retained.  Dooley also spoke candidly about family members being bombarded with phone calls about rumors regarding his job status.

"My kids are getting banged up on their phone, the way my wife is getting banged up, everybody said I was fired," said Dooley.
