City officials show plans for redeveloping North Gay Street to the public

The City of Knoxville envisioned a plan to connect Downtown Knoxville while designing a plan for North Gay Street. City officials showed off and reviewed their plans with the public on Wednesday afternoon.

The design calls for a narrower street, sidewalk repairs, landscaping, underground utilities, and more. If approved, this would complete the improvement project for all of Gay Street, stretching from the Gay Street Bridge to Emory Place.

City planners hope the work better links the area to the core of the city.
