Angels of Hope helps cancer patients

Angels of Hope helps cancer patients

Hundreds of East Tennessee cancer patients benefit from a volunteer effort to help them around the holidays.

"This says love is all you need," reads a hand made pillow case.

Love motivated UT Medical Oncologist Dr. Susan Huntsinger to start a program to help the cancer patients she treats.

"To be able to do this for them and give them just that little bit of spark that little bit of hope is just a wonderful thing," she said.

She realized the holidays can be especially difficult for her patients.

Second Harvest sells 'Tim Kerin Power Towels' outside Neyland Stadium

Many Vol fans helped out those in need before heading into Neyland Stadium on Saturday.

Second Harvest Food Bank sold "Tim Kerin Power Towels" outside the stadium's gates two hours before kickoff.  The towels, which cost around five dollars, are named after a popular UT football trainer, who died back in 1992.

Fans also could donate one dollar, which is enough to provide three meals.

This was the memorial drive's 21st anniversary.  It raised $35 thousand dollars last year.
