UT Student Health Center opens on-campus pharmacy

University of Tennessee students and faculty have a new on-campus facility for all their prescription needs.

The new student health pharmacy hosted an open house today. "Keystone Pharmacy Services" operates the pharmacy, which is open to all students, faculty and staff. The on-campus pharmacy is a new benefit for university employees.

The Student Health Center also provides medical, counseling and wellness programs to UT students.

The Knoxville Police Department will conduct a free child car seat checkpoint on Saturday, February 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 917 E. Fifth Avenue.

According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), 80% of all child restraints are used incorrectly. 

During the KPD checkpoint, child car seats will be checked by a certified car seat technician.

The technicians will provide instructions and demonstrate the correct way to install your child's car seat.

UT physician honored as Sports Medicine Person of the Year

A Knoxville doctor and UT physician is this year's Sports Medicine Person of the Year.

The Tennessee Athletic Trainer's Society awarded Dr. Chris Klenck the honor. He is UT's head team physician and works will all the men's and women's teams.

The organization says Klenck made extraordinary contributions to sports medicine and helped influence the athletic training profession.

We spoke with Dr. Klenck who said getting the award was an honor.

This February Goodwill Industries- Knoxville will partner with local dry cleaners throughout our 15 county service area to host a clothing drive. Participating dry cleaners will collect and dry clean gently used items donated by their patrons. These items will be given to Goodwill stores and resold in order to benefit Goodwill's job training and placement programs.

8,000 visitors expected at The Healthy Living Expo

Friday marked the first day of The Healthy Living Expo at the Knoxville Convention Center.

In its ninth year, the expo is the area's largest event focused on health, fitness, and living green.

Organizers expect 8,000-10,000 visitors.

More than 200 exhibits are featured this year.

SmartShots is offering a variety of shots, including the flu vaccine for $5.
